Each year our parish undertakes a project to help make Christmas special for those in need. Last year, we donated over 3,000 gifts to individual parishioners and families as well as several institutions and agencies. The project begins with obtaining lists of possible gifts from institutions and agencies, our own food pantry clients, and those in nursing facilities. All of the gift suggestions are placed on cards that are hung on Angel Trees tags/ornaments will be hung on the trees in the Church and Parish Center the weekends of November 23 - 24 and Novvember 30 - December 1. Parishioners are asked to return the cards attached to the gifts at Masses by December 8 (this is very important - please make sure you return by this date). The gifts are sorted according to their destination and are either prepared for delivery or pick-up.
How You Can Volunteer to Help
Volunteers will be needed to complete tags/ornaments to hang on the trees and to help sort gifts mid-November (details TBA) in Meeting Room D in the lower level of the church. Additional help will be needed to organize and sort gifts the week of December 8 (specific times and locations will be noted in the church bulletin as they are scheduled). If you would like to help, please contact the parish secretary, Gail Beck, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 724.625.1665 x. 2108 or email Collette Miller. The Angel Tree project is also always grateful for your old Christmas cards to use as tags on the trees. Please be sure the cards are prepped with just the face of the card and a back that can be written on (ie: just remove the back half of the card and turn in the front). Cards can be dropped in the offertory at Masses or turned in to the Parish Center Office.
Buying Gifts for the Angel Tree
Once you have selected a tag from the Angel Tree, please be sure to read the instructions on the back of the tag/ornament and make sure the tag/ornament is attached to the gift. At the request of the institutions, gifts are not to be wrapped although gift bags are acceptable. All gifts must be returned after Masses on or before December 2.
