Mission Statement
Saint Kilian Parish, a Catholic community of faith, seeks to live the presence of Jesus Christ by the way we worship God, celebrate the sacraments, proclaim the Gospel, and serve one another and our neighbors. Established as the Roman Catholic parish serving those living in the boroughs of Callery, Mars, Seven Fields and Valencia, as well as the townships of Adams and Cranberry (East of Route 19), we seek to live out our Christian life as a vibrant community of hospitality, spiritual enrichment and service. Objectives
- Objective 1 - To foster communal worship as the center of our life and identity as a parish
- Foster understanding of and participation in various prayer forms (outside of Mass)
- Provide opportunities for growth in spiritual life (including retreats and days of recollectioin)
- Foster greater appreciation and use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Provide better understanding and use of the Anointing of the Sick
- In the context of celebrating seasons and feasts as fully as possible in liturgy and catechesis and utilizing varied forms and multiple talents in worship.
- Objective 2 - To construct the buildings necessary to meet the needs of our growing faith community
- Clarify and clearly make known current and future needs
- Demonstrate how those needs will be met in various phases of the project
- Solidify support for the Second Century Campaign on the part of all parishioners & others
- Enhance communication regarding the Second Century Campaign
- In the context of addressing the needs of the wider Church as we build a new Parish Center
- Objective 3 - To provide a full, varied program of faith formation for all parishioners
- Provide a wide range of faith formation opportunities including Scripture study
- Foster some form of faith formation as a part of the scope of every parish organization
- Make the R.C.I.A. a priority for the parish and a focus for all parishioners
- Explore ways to provide "small faith community" experiences in the parish
- In the context of providing quality religious education and youth ministry programs and experiences, providing quality sacramental preparation programs, and conducting on-going recruitment and formation of catechists and faith formation ministers.
- Objective 4 -To be a faith community known for its welcome, care and hospitality
- Provide printed welcome material for those new to our area
- Establish neighborhood based welcome activities
- Extend welcome to new parishioners into various parish ministries and activities
- Foster social activities as community builders
- In the context of insuring a welcome at liturgies and parish activities and providing maximum information to parishioners and others about parish activities.
- Objective 5 - To establish stewardship as a personal and parochial response to God's gifts
- Encourage every parishioner to become involved in some ministry or parish activity
- Encourage stewardship as the primary means of financial support for the parish and its ministries
- Encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life
- Encourage parishioners to remember parish needs as they make wills, bequests and do financial planning
- In the context of making the best use of parish resources and demonstrating parish stewardship by financial accountability and reporting
- Objective 6 - To establish evangelization and outreach as personal and parochial priorities
- Provide appropriate formation for all to become involved in some form of evangelizaton
- Provide personal and formal outreach to the unchurched and those who have left the Catholic Church
- Respond to the bereaved and those suffering loss and trauma
- Respond to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged
- In the context of supporting the work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Ladies of Charity and continuing to assist our building partners with programs and activities
- Objective 7 - To provide appropriate pastoral care for the home-bound and those in institutions within our parish
- Provide access to the Eucharist and prayer experiences for those unable to join with the parish community
- Maintain a complete and accurate database of Catholics in institutions within the parish
- Assisting parishioners to see how they can be involved in pastoral care in various ways
- In the context of fostering the activities of the parish nurse and health care ministries
and continuing the "giving trees" and "lenten nails" projects
